Sting in the tale for bees

BIRMINGHAM and Solihull Bees have been summoned to appear before a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel for bringing the game into disrepute.

BIRMINGHAM and Solihull Bees have been summoned to appear before a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel for bringing the game into disrepute.

The Bees will be charged alongside rivals Coventry, after the two teams clashed, during their Championship game two weeks ago.

It is alleged that personnel from the two clubs entered the ground (as defined in the Laws of the Game), and became involved in a brawl during the closing stages of the match, at Butts Park Arena on February 5.

Bees hooker Stuart Philpott has also been charged with an offence of conduct prejudicial to the interests of the Game by allegedly becoming involved in a brawl after he had been replaced.

The disciplinary hearing was due to take place last night (Thursday) in Coventry.
