Swimmers strike gold at open gala

SOLIHULL Swimming Club are celebrating after a weekend competing at two open meets and the Mercian Gala.

SOLIHULL Swimming Club are celebrating after a weekend competing at two open meets and the Mercian Gala.

The first event, in Derby, saw 14 swimmers aged nine to 12 come back with 30 medals between them.

Emily Colleran, Nicholas Kudanowski, Niamh Taylor, Alex Dolphin, Victoria Long and Sarah Warwood all achieved gold medals.

Eleven of the club’s swimmers then travelled to Braunstone for the Sprint Open Meet 2010. SSC came seventh overall with an impressive 21 personal bests.

Finally Solihull’s Mercian Squad travelled to Leamington to compete against five other teams for the Mercian trophy, which Solihull have won for the last 12 years.

After some very close races SSC finished second overall, just six points behind winners Halesowen.
