Midlands Division One West
Camp Hill 20 - 15 Whitchurch
AN UNHAPPY start to the season was overlooked on Camp Hill’s Annual Vice-Presidents Day, as the home side coped admirably with a much bigger pack, to secure a much-needed victory. Camps dominated the first half taking a 17-3 scoreline into the break, but the visitors soon fought back in the second half, and nearly levelled the scores. Despite a late penalty being awarded to Whitchurch, it wasn’t converted, and Camps held on for the win.
Midlands 2 West South
Berkswell & Balsall 27 - 23 Barkers Butts
Berkswell gained their first victory of the season with an impressive win over local rivals Barkers Butts. It was a solid team performance in which Berkswell’s dominance in the forwards was, this week, enhanced by their backs, who were slicker in moving the ball and more solid in their defensive work. Barkers came back late in the game to set-up a tight finish, but B’s held firm to prevail.
Camp Hill WRFC 21 - 0 Lakenham Hewitt
A solid pitch suited Camp’s fast game and after some aggressive defence in Lakenham’s half they were first to score, with Sheena Larkin dotting down in between the posts. The next try did not come until the second half when out of position Jo Hart let her legs do the talking with an impressive run from half way to again provide Becci Lewis with an easy two points from the conversion.
The final try came from a textbook rolling maul, which saw Stacey Tolley score her first try of the season as well as Camp’s third of the game.
