Tournament kicks off rugby season

LOCAL rugby kicks off this Saturday, August 13, with the annual Moss Goode 15 a side tournament at Old Yardleians RFC.

LOCAL rugby kicks off this Saturday, August 13, with the annual Moss Goode 15 a side tournament at Old Yardleians RFC. The first game is scheduled for a 12.30pm start.

Confirmed entries have been received from Ashby, Wolverhampton, Droitwich, Tamworth, Old Sils, Berkswell and Balsall Common, Birmingham Exiles and, of course, the host club.

The action consists of 20 minute games on a league basis culminating in knock out games at the semi-final and final stages.

The club, located in Tilehouse Lane on the outskirts of Shirley, welcomes spectators. Admission is free, car parking is available and refreshments will be on sale throughout the afternoon and evening.

Those who wish to consider playing rugby, Old Yardleians RFC caters for all ages from six to 60 plus, and interested parties are invited to have a chat with one of the club officials during the day to discover the benefits that the sport offers whether as a player or a spectator.
