Midlands 2 West (South)
Kidderminster 39 - 7 Berkswell & Balsall
THE home side started brightly and were soon creating mayhem in the Berkswell defence.
Using the pace and handling skills of their back row and centres, Kidderminster twice put their wing men over the try-line in the opening 12 minutes. Berkswell tried to the keep the ball in their front eight as much as possible and were rewarded on 16 minutes when a fine line out take was immediately turned into a driving maul. Prop Craig Mills managed to get the ball down to score with Sam Bignall adding the conversion.
Two tries in quick succession, just before half time, put the home side in command at the break, leading 20-7.
More of the same at the start of the second half saw the home side extend their lead with an unconverted try, following a quick break down the left-hand touchline.
Berkswell were playing a more tactical game in the second half though, which stopped the flow of ball to the home back line.
Yet two late Kidderminster tries in the final five minutes, one of which was converted, gave the final score a more one-sided look than Berkswell probably deserved for their second half pressure.
