IT’S the sign of a good restaurant when even on a Monday night – traditionally the quietest of the week, Lloyds in Knowle has a steady turnover of customers.
And when you taste their dishes it’s easy to understand why – since they’re so lip-smackingly tasty they could reinvigorate even the most jaded of palates.
Poppadom and chutneys got the evening underway before we moved on to Chicken Chot Poti (£3.35) and a mouth-watering Melon boat (£1.95) for starters.
The chicken came in a deliciously rich tamarind sauce, while the chef had turned a simple melon slice into a thing of beauty.
From there we progressed to a new dish, Papillon Chicken served with Rice (£10.95) and a Malai-Kuchi Chicken (£9.95). Here the tastebuds really went to town, each dish blending spices and herbs beautifully to be distinctive and tasty.
With side dishes of Bombal Aloo (£3.15) and a Mixed Vegetable Begun (£3.15) we were really spoilt for flavours yet every single one complemented the other.
A shared plain nan (£2.05) and pilau rice (£2.25) provided the balance making this a truly memorable Monday evening with to finish, a nice cup of green tea.
Throughout the staff were impeccable, attentive yet discreet – in other words, a perfect dining experience.
