Amy is putting on a show

OVER 30 local teenagers will be putting together their own production of High School Musical at Solihull Arts Complex.

OVER 30 local teenagers will be putting together their own production of High School Musical at Solihull Arts Complex.

Sixteen-year-old Amy Morgan has formed a theatre group called Birmingham’s Entertaining Amateur Theatre (BEAT).

The King Edward VI pupil held auditions at local schools and soon had a whole-cast full of eager teenagers.

Nineteen 12-15-year-olds will be acting, with an eight-strong orchestra of sixth-form students providing the music.

Amy said they were spending hours every week rehearsing.

“When we were looking for a venue, we decided on Solihull because they do a lot of community theatre,” she said.

It’s hoped the show will raise £1,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Amy says that BEAT will continue, with another show in 2012.

* The show is on February 4. To book tickets call 0121 704 6962. To make a donation, go to www.justgiving.com/Amy-Morgan0.
