The Upbeat Beatles, Solihull Arts Complex
IT’S debatable whether it’s The Beatles or Elvis who have the most acts faithfully imitating them decades after they first shot to fame.
Some are better than others too but the Upbeat Beatles are certainly one of the best outfits paying tribute to the Fab Four.
This was their first visit to the Arts Complex but a near sell-out show and a rapturous response will surely see them make a return visit.
They rattled through an array of familiar favourites, mostly from the Beatles’ early catalogue, though with a fair smattering of mid-career classics too.
What was good was the inclusion of quite a few tracks that the imitators often steer clear of.
There was the welcome presence of a few rock ‘n roll classics that the Beatles might have performed at the infamous Star Club in Hamburg such as Lucille.
All in all though, a great show that ended up with the expected ‘Hey Jude’ singalong.
If you missed them this time be sure to book your seats early next time around.
