Colourful creations on show

AROUND 250 paintings will be going on display at a massive watercolour exhibition, taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Artists from all across the Midlands will be showing off their best pieces at Berkswell Reading Room and one picture will be raffled off in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The exhibitors have all been tutored by professional artists Trevor and Andrew Boult - who hail from Balsall Common.

Sheila Gibson, from Kingshurst, is one of the painters whose talents have been nurtured by pair.

“There will be 50 artists putting their work on display and they come from all over - we’ve got people from Solihull, Sutton and Coventry in the group.”

The group in question is the Warwickshire Watercolourists. Members come together for a couple of hours every week to work on their latest paintings.

A lot of patience goes into the pictures, which cover a host of subjects from flowers and wildlife to landscapes.

The 2009 exhibition will be held over the Bank Holiday weekend. It will be open to the public between 10am-6pm on August 29-31 and from 10am-1pm on September 1.
