HELPING to keep the credit crunch firmly at bay, Monkspath Harvester has a new Earlybird menu featuring major price reductions to help guests and their families in these tough economic times.

Now available seven days a week until 6.30pm, the Earlybird offers the same freshly prepared and quality dishes for less, allowing customers at the salad and grill on Stratford Road in Hockley Heath the chance to enjoy three course meals for less than £10.

With unlimited free access to the salad cart, the menu boasts tempting starters such as Flame-Grilled Chicken Wings, Breaded Mushrooms and the Harvester King Prawn Cocktail for just £2.49, and mains that include the Original Spitroast Chicken and the Harvester Burger priced from £4.99.

Delicious desserts start at only £2.35; and anyone counting the calories can still choose from the Healthy Heart options on the menu.

The Monkspath Harvester is ideally placed with a huge car park and provides a comfortable dining experience for families and business customers alike.

After careful perusal of the extensive menu, we opted for the prawn cocktail, the soup of the day (pumpkin) and the fresh melon. All were nicely presented, especially the melon that included strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.

For main I opted for the Hot Piri Piri chicken, my husband the 12oz rump steak, and our youngest daughter the Bourbon BBQ Glazed spitroast.

All were well received, and we did not forget to visit the salad cart where we chose from a selection of fresh fruit, vegetables and accompaniments including coleslaw and potato salads.

When it came to desserts, my husband, being a traditionalist at heart, opted for the Bramley apple pie. I chose the Rocky Horror – chocolate fudge cake, and our daughter the sticky Brownie Skewers - served with Belgian chocolate dip and vanilla ice cream.

We definitely plan to make a return visit soon with our four-year-old grandson as for just £3.95 young guests under 10 can enjoy a selection of adult choices, but with more manageable portions that all come with free unlimited salad.
