Following the opening night of O2 Academy Birmingham on Thursday September 10, where Editors will make their mark as the first band to headline the new venue, The Twang continue the weekend celebrations on Friday September 11 and bring an indoor festival vibe to O2 Academy.
The local heroes headline a top class line up across all three rooms for this unique hometown show, where O2 Academy Birmingham will play host to no less than 10 bands and a bill that promotes the best homegrown Midlands talent.
“Dale End holds some great memories for The Twang, whether it be playing there or watching our favourite bands dreaming of the day we could grace the stage.
“It’s an honour to be part of a new era and headlining at the new O2 Academy Birmingham,” said Phil Etheridge, of The Twang
The Scarlet Harlots recently found fame becoming finalists on Channel 4’s unsignedAct and have made a big impression on the Birmingham music scene with their collision of indie, punk and dub.
The Traps have already been spotted by BBC WM’s Introducing team and are causing a buzz around the city with their latest EP, ‘Elk’.
O2 Academy Birmingham has chosen local Catapult Club promoter Arthur Tapp to hand-pick a sterling line up of Midlands acts to join The Twang and friends, including Templeton Pek, Misty’s Big Adventure, Subkicks, Octane OK, Mexicolas, Strangle Kojak and Sick City Club all setting the pace.
The Twang’s hotly anticipated second album ‘Jewellery Quarter’, named after the area of Birmingham where the band rehearse, is released on Monday August 3.
The gig on September 11 will cost £10 advance with doors opening at 6.30pm.
