Lights appeal is to benefit at concert

Shirley’s St James Church will light up to the summer sounds of the Fellowship Singers of Shirley who have organised a concert in aid of this year’s Christmas Lights for Shirley.

Shirley’s St James Church will light up to the summer sounds of the Fellowship Singers of Shirley who have organised a concert in aid of this year’s Christmas Lights for Shirley.

The Fellowship Singers were successful in raising over £800 for the lights last year to a packed audience at the church.

Enjoy a summer evening of light and bright tunes from this successful local group, including Gershwin’s summertime and the Sound of Music, for example. It takes place on Saturday, July 9 from 7.30pm – it’s sure to be a great event. For more information on the group, visit www.fellowshipsingers.co.uk .

Becki Wood, town centre manager for Shirley, said: “I am really pleased the Fellowship Singers have arranged the concert again this year as it was a real treat for all the community last year and raised a substantial amount for our Christmas lights fund.

“Our objective this year is to buy some new lights for the town. Thank you to everyone for getting involved and I am sure the concert will be a roaring success.”

Tickets are £6.50 for adults and £3 for children, to include refreshments. To book tickets please call 0121 711 1977 or buy on the door from 7pm.
