THE classic Shakespeare comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor is coming to Packwood House near Lapworth next weekend.
The National Trust property will welcome the outdoor theatre company Illyria when they perform the comedy about knight, Sir John Falstaff who is humiliated after sending identical love letters to the two merry wives, Mrs Page and Mrs Ford, who then proceed to play a series of jokes on him.
Joy Tovey, House Manager at Packwood House said: "We are delighted to welcome back Illyria to Packwood House for what will be an excellent evening of entertainment. Visitors can relax and watch the drama unfold against a beautiful backdrop by the lake."
Pack a picnic and low-back chairs or a rug to sit on and with our inclement weather, a brolly and outdoor clothing is advisable. Barbecues and patio umbrellas are not permitted.
The National Trust shop will also be open for drinks and ice cream.
Tickets for the performance on Saturday July 19 are £12 adults and £8 children. Gates open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm performance.
The next performance by Illyria at Packwood will be on Saturday August 9 when the theatre company returns with children's classic Pinocchio.
