TOP actor Paterson Joseph has been singing the praises of Solihull.
He lived here for four months while filming a new series of Survivors over in Birmingham.
Paterson plays Greg Preston in the BBC drama, set after a deadly virus has wiped out most of the population.
But when he wasn’t fighting to stay alive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, the 45-year-old was biking around the town centre.
“I’m delighted that filming has moved from Manchester to Birmingham.
“I thought Birmingham would be a concrete jungle, though. I didn’t expect it to be so beautiful.
“Solihull is just gorgeous,” he told the Birmingham Mail.
“Where I lived was just a stone’s throw away from countryside, with canal walks and great pubs, yet a 10 minute cycle ride and I could be at John Lewis and a multiplex cinema.”
During his stay, he confessed to nipping out on his bike to chippies on the Warwick Road and Damson Lane.
Paterson has been acting since the early 1990s and is probably best known for shows like Peep Show, Green Wing and Jekyll.
He was tipped as favourite to take over from David Tennant in Doctor Who - which would have made him the first black actor to play the Time Lord.
In a recent interview he confirmed that he had been in the running for the part - which eventually went to rising star Matt Smith.
