ROMANCE is definitely in the air with St Valentine’s Day this Sunday, and for those who want to celebrate the occasion with a special meal out - Pasta di Piazza would make an unforgettable choice.
Nestling within a quiet corner of Acocks Green along the Warwick Road, this authentic Italian restaurant offers delicious food and drink in surroundings that effortlessly recreate a genuine Mediterranean dining experience. They say that music is also the food of love, and with this in mind the venue provides live music every Saturday night.
The evening my family and I visited an accordion player was entertaining diners with classic pieces made famous by the likes of legendary Dean Martin and film scores with a distinct Italian theme that complemented the traditional fare being served. This restaurant, however is not only for loved-up couples, but is an ideal venue for family, friends and business clientele - it has a well earned reputation for its provision of high quality food and service. For starters my husband opted for Zuppa del Giorno (soup - £3.95), our youngest daughter the Funghi Ripieni (mushroom with breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese - £5.50), while I selected the Bruschetta Romana (toasted bread with tomato - £4.25). All were promptly served to the table with a side helping of garlic bread with cheese (£3.95).
After careful perusal of the extensive main menu we ordered the Fettuccine Salmone E’Asparagi - pasta with salmon and asparagus in tomato sauce (£10.50), and two Tortellini Ricotta E Spinaci - fresh pasta with ricotta cheese, spinach and creamy tomato sauce (£7.95). Leaving just enough room for dessert we finished with Tartuto – chocolate ice cream with hazelnut coating (£3.75), Tiramisu (£3.55) and our daughter’s all-time favourite Pistachio ice cream.
