Romeo gets a rock makeover

SO you think you know Romeo & Juliet? Think again.

SO you think you know Romeo & Juliet? Think again.

Shakespeare’s classic story of star-crossed lovers has been given a modern spin. In this latest stage show, the tale has been re-imagined as a rock musical.

It will be performed by the SOSage Factory drama troupe at Solihull Arts Complex.

James Reilly and Isabelle James take the title roles in the musical - which mixes the original text with rock, ballad, gospel and even rap music. Apart from that, there’s all the romance, intrigue and murder that you’d get in the original play.

Romeo and Juliet: The Rock Musical is on from February 25-27. Tickets are available from the box office on 0121 704 6962, or else get them on the door.

* The group is the youth section of Solihull Operatic Society.

* It’s been performing musicals since 1993 - when it brought Oliver! to life.

* All members of the troupe are aged nine-17.
