Roses are red and white for castle

TAKE a step back in time over the bank holiday weekend with a trip to Kenilworth Castle where the Wars of the Roses will be at their height.

TAKE a step back in time over the bank holiday weekend with a trip to Kenilworth Castle where the Wars of the Roses will be at their height.

The castle's grounds will be populated with over 100 historic re-enactors on August 24-25, housed in a living history village of over 50 authentic tents, depicting an army on the move.

As well as watching the dramatic scenes of a turbulent period in English history, visitors can see first-hand how the soldiers of the era would have lived whilst out on manoeuvres.

The encampment will highlight how the soldiers, sometimes accompanied by families who would provide support services, would have lived, and visitors can see, smell and hear many different aspects of 15th century military life.

The highlight of each day will be a morning skirmish and a battle each afternoon, as the opposing forces face each other in mortal combat!

The event runs each day from 11am to 5pm, with the castle itself open from 10am to 6pm.

Admission prices are £8 for adults, £5.30 for concessions and £3.50 for children, with a family ticket (two adults and up to three children) available for £19.50.
