Sounds different

THE sound of something different will be heard at The Hare and Hounds next week.

Word Unlimited are continuing their monthly gigs at the Kings Heath venue with a line-up of Phantom Limb, Ali M Forbes and the Lazy Lizards.

Phantom Limb include Yolanda, who toured with Massive Attack last year, along with a string of other band mates who produce ‘what country and soul music can and should be’.

The Lazy Lizards manage to include a variety of instruments despite only being four in number. Expect thoughtful, happy lyrics with a worldwide influence to their music.

Finally, Ali M Forbes seems to have emerged unscathed from the recent break-up of Envy and Other Sins. The singer and songwriter taking a solo journey far removed from the band that always seemed slightly uneasy with their TV fame which came courtesy of Channel 4’s MobileAct Unsigned. His new style is described as ‘future folk’ and includes the multi-instrumentalist playing guitar, violin and whatever comes to hand.

The gig is just £3 on the door, with doors opening at 7.30pm.
