Stand up in the spotlight for a comedy career

FANCY getting a start as a stand-up? A new set of workshops at Solihull Arts Complex could be right up your street.

Wannabe comedians will be taken under the wing of writer and local Poet Laureate Theo Theobald.

He will help the novice comics write and rehearse material and prep them for performing their punchlines.

The finale of the comedy course will see the stand-ups perform to a live audience at the Arts Complex studio.

It’s not the first time that Theo, a published author, has organised the workshops for fledgling comics.

One of his earlier pupils, Ian Wilkes, has gone on to support Patrick Monahan - winner of ITV’s Show me the Funny.

The five-week course costs £80 and starts at the venue on January 5, building up to the live show on February 4.
