THE award-winning Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra will be welcoming trumpet star Steve Waterman when he joins them in a lunchtime concert at the Westley Hotel, Acocks Green, this Sunday.

Steve has worked regularly on the British and European jazz scenes and his recording career spans 20 years. In 2003 he formed an 18-piece orchestra, playing his own compositions.

He is professor of jazz trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity College of Music in London and visiting jazz trumpet specialist at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Steve also teaches on many summer jazz courses and has conducted numerous trumpet master classes ranging in size from small groups to big bands throughout the UK and in Spain, Finland, Latvia and Cuba.

Sunday’s concert starts at 12.30pm. Tickets cost £9 on the door. For more information telephone 01675 442050.
