THERE’S nothing better than outdoor theatre. Brueton Park provides a perfect backdrop and the annual visits by Heartbreak Productions are one of the park calendar’s highlights.
This time it was the classic children’s tale The Secret Garden being brought to life in truly magical fashion. I wasn’t sure about the opening and closing scenes that take us in and out of the actual story - the Missington & District Horticultural Society vignette didn’t quite work for me - but once the story proper got going it proved both compelling and enthralling.
In any Heartbreak Productions show a small team of actors certainly earn their money, taking on anything up to five roles.
In addition they also have to act as stage-hands, using a wide variety of props and suchlike. And if that weren’t enough they also sell their own merchandise and programmes.
That they do all this with an enthusiasm that seems to show no bounds is admirable to say the least. It proved a fantastic and fast-paced show .
