A CHARITY concert - which will be raising money for the Philip Bates Trust Fund - will be taking place in Birmingham next month.

Philip was a Castle Bromwich student who died as a result of an accident in Switzerland in 2000 - he was just 19. At the time of his death he had been studying at Lancaster University and today the trust helps performing arts and music students.

It is the tenth year that the concert has been held and there will be a range of performers taking part. The Heart of England Singers and the Bilton Silver Band will be among those on the bill this time.

The event will take place at the Adrian Boult Hall on September 26 (starting at 7.15pm).

Tickets cost £8 for adults but concessions at £6 are available from Martin Bates 0121 747 5705. There are likely to be some tickets available on the door.
