Torvill and Dean on ice – with celebs in tow

IT’S BEEN 25 years since skating legends Torvill and Dean took the Olympic Gold medal for their stunning Bolero routine at the Sarajevo Winter Olympics in 1984.

IT’S BEEN 25 years since skating legends Torvill and Dean took the Olympic Gold medal for their stunning Bolero routine at the Sarajevo Winter Olympics in 1984.

To celebrate the event the duo are set to star in the Torvill & Dean’s Dancing on Ice The Bolero 25th Anniversary Tour, in April, with headline acts Kyran Bracken, Todd Carty and Suzanne Shaw.

England rugby star Kyran was crowned the winner of series two, while former Hear’say singer Suzanne won the series last year. TV actor Todd Carty was voted off the ITV1 series recently.

All of the celebrities will be trained and choreographed by Torvill & Dean, who will also perform several of their favourite routines at each performance.

Olympic gold-medal winner Robin Cousins will lead the panel of rink-side judges who will critique their performances.

The full judging panel is now confirmed and consists of Karen Barber, Robin Cousins, Ruthie Henshall and Nicky Slater.

There will also be one guest judging seat for each date with organisers lining up some very special guests.

The five-week UK tour will kick off on Thursday, April 2, in Sheffield, and then to arenas in Nottingham, London, Manchester, Newcastle and will arrive in Birmingham on April 23 for four days, before heading to Belfast.

At each performance the audience will have a chance to vote for their favourite skating celebrity.

Replicating the format of the hit ITV1 show, they will be able to use their mobile phones to text vote for their favourite dancing couple.

The audience votes will then be added to the scores from the judges to decide the winner.

Once the votes have been counted, the winning celebrity will join their skating partner to perform a finale.

As with the previous tours, all profits from text voting will go to charity, with more than £45,000 raised to date.

To book tickets call 08700 11 26 26 or log onto www.dancingonicetour.co.uk. Tickets are priced from £32.50 - £45.00. A booking fee will also be charged.
