Welcoming atmosphere at gym is ideal for average user

LAST week I spent a morning at Solihull Motivation Club at the Holiday Inn to test out the gym facilities on offer.

The impressive hotel offers the use of the gym to all its members and the warm and welcoming environment took me back.

Downstairs there are a number of treadmills overlooking a picturesque water fountain and a small free-weight section with a wide variety of dumbells and barbells.

Upstairs there are machines which cater for every muscle group in your body.

Although the downstairs section is fairly small, it is not dominated by bodybuilders - an often off-putting sight for the average gym user.

Instead there is a healthy mix of people ranging from teenagers to pensioners.

The changing room has enough lockers to deal with the busy periods and the shower facilities are impressive.

Also included is the leisure section is a swimming pool, a relaxing jacuzzi, a sauna and relaxation room.

We fancied a bite to eat after our workout and the Cajun Chicken Salad, served with tortilla chips (£10.50) was delightful and proved excellent value for money due to its size.

My workout partner spoke very highly of the Chef’s Ham and Mushroom Omelette (£7.95) which he opted for.

Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend the gym to anyone keen on shedding a few pounds and getting into shape.
